Snapchat’s new "Spotlight" in MENA
We haven’t heard of Snapchat in a while. At least until very recently when they announced a new exciting feature. Indeed, Snapchat’s popularity amongst youngsters compared to other platforms like Tik Tok seems to have died down a little bit but with so many users, it’s unlikely that the platform will vanish - it just needs to comply with the demand and keep the platform exciting like the others are doing. For example, Twitter recently has created a new premium membership as well as other features that come and add to the experience of the users, which is great. It’s apparently also built in their privacy-by-design philosophy and they hope that this Spotlight feature will help break down barriers to content creation by democratising both the distribution and the ability to earn from this content. According to him, it is crucial that content creators feel like they can and should express themselves.
“Spotlight” is now available in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria, UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, Libya, Morocco, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan and Palestine.
