Emirates Mars Mission - UAE’s Al Amal.

Having evolved from a subsistence economy to a highly advanced and innovation-driven one in just 40 years really tells you something about the United Arab Emirates. Just like Singapore or even Luxembourg, the dedication and resources put into any sort of complex projects always end up to be successful. As a reminder and contrary to popular belief, the UAE is not rich in oil - or at least not anymore. Its reserves of oil back in the days were used to fuel the other sectors - so much, that today its economy is extremely diversified between trade, finance, tourism, technology and now space exploration. Did you know that the nation has its own space agency and space center where they train their own engineers and scientists? They even sent an astronaut to space in 2019!

The much anticipated Emirates Mars Mission is a success and will contribute in studying Mars’ atmosphere in greater detail. The Hope probe, or Al Amal, is a sign of optimism for the future of space exploration and the implications of UAE’s involvement, inspiring the future generation to come together and work on scientific challenges that could change the course of our world. Here at Mint Stalk, a leading digital marketing agency based in Dubai, we saw the excitement firsthand with our partners - they all wanted to create a social media campaign around it to show their support so yes, it has been a very busy week filled with hope and encouragement from all sides. This is the beauty of the solidarity between the Emirates - there’s such a deep and mutual respect for one another that collaboration is just like second nature. It’s something quite incredible to witness.

From what we’ve gathered here at Mint Stalk, here’s a brief rundown of the implications of this mission.

Mars is still very unknown. The red planet has been of interest for a while now as it has shown that it could have sustained life at some point back in the day (more like millions of years ago). Its size, rotation and distance to the sun are quite similar to that of Earth and indicate that it could have been suitable for organic life before losing its magnetic field and atmosphere 4 billion years ago. Minerals and signs of water erosion found on Mars have shown that yes, simple microbes and basic organic life really did develop - all the conditions were there for it to happen. Mars is unfortunately too cold, arid and lifeless today but according to Elon Musk when asked on Twitter if it was possible to make it habitable, he replied “Nuke Mars!” - sounds super drastic but probably also the most efficient way to do it because by artificially warming up the poles, we will be able to terraform it, making it habitable once again. They know how to do it on paper at least but this is also why this Hope probe mission is so important - if tomorrow something happens to humans on Earth, we need a plan B. Elon Musk himself (yes, you can tell that the person who writes the blogs for Mint Stalk is lowkey obsessed with him) is trying to accelerate space exploration and travel - he is confident that SpaceX will land humans on Mars by 2026 and we obviously all hope that the UAE will be involved.

Anyway. This is another great way for the UAE to diversify. The cutting-edge technological achievements are truly jaw dropping and the Hope Probe is the perfect accelerator of UAE’s entire space industry. As a leading digital marketing agency operating in the UAE, we understand how technological advances can fuel an industry to the point where productivity is literally through the roof, propulsing businesses to new heights. Change can be scary but in many cases, it’s important to embrace it - especially when the fate of humanity is at stake. Okay it’s a bit of an overstatement and to be fair, the Hope Probe, named originally Al Amal, will only report data that will help model the Earth’s own atmosphere and how it has evolved over millions of years. BUT STILL! It’s one small step for man, but one giant leap for mankind - and we are here for that.
